The story
A perfect match. A honeymoon in the mist.
Priya is twenty-four, with a master's degree in social work, forty-one job applications behind her, and a mother who has discovered matrimony apps. Then the horoscopes arrive: Rahul, a quiet bank officer from Thrissur, matches her ten out of ten.
So why won't he smile in a single photo? And why, on their honeymoon in Munnar, with a red alert over the hills, does everything begin to feel like a goodbye?
Told with humour, heart and the sudden rain of the Western Ghats, Ten Out of Ten is a story about the labels women are made to carry, and the long road from betrayal to forgiveness.
From the first chapter
“Thick, white, everywhere, like someone had deleted the whole world.”
On the Munnar fog“Getting ghosted by a guy is one thing. Getting ghosted by a hospital in Thrissur is a whole different level of pain.”
Priya, job hunting“That's the thing nobody tells you about red flags. When you're wearing rose-tinted glasses, they just look like flags.”
Priya, after the pennukaanal
